This book uncovers the adventures of Batman and Robin in Japanese manga and was designed by Chip Kidd. Purely from a Batman fan perspective, this book was pretty awesome and was full of pictures of Batman toys in addition to translated Batman manga. The stories were interesting such as the Lord Death and The Man Who Quit Being Human sagas. Technology does play a role in these stories by either creating these villains as in the case of Professor Gorilla or helping the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder stop these evil doers. Because Japanese society embraces technology differently than the United States, this book may be useful from that perspective. There is supposedly another book coming out by Chip Kidd with more Batman manga. Overall, this book was a great read as a fan and may serve as a secondary source for the thesis.
I found this book using the PSU Library: Bat-Manga! The Secret History of Batman in Japan. Chip Kidd. New York: Pantheon Books, 2008. Print.
